welcome to my class! a little about me...
My name is Stephanie Coggins and this is my fourth year teaching here at Bailey Middle School! I previously taught 7th grade science and math at Northwest Cabarrus Middle School in Concord, NC. I graduated from Appalachian State University in 2001 and completed my Masters of Arts in Teaching at UNCC in 2012.
I'm a science nerd at heart, and I especially love teaching biology. I have a passion for environmental conservation, and I spent part of my summer in Belize with the NC Museum of Natural Sciences. I worked with Belizean students and learned about tropical ecosystems and exactly how they relate to us here in North Carolina. (The photos above were all taken in Belize this summer.) This was a truly life-changing experience and I can't wait to bring back everything I learned and share it in my classroom this year!
I love sports, especially football and college basketball. In the fall and spring you'll find me cheering for the Tarheels and Dallas Cowboys! I think music is the best form of therapy, and I love live music. I love to travel, and I believe that the best way to keep your mind open is to visit new places you have never been. My husband and I have been together for over 11 years and we have a furbaby- a Havanese dog named Willie.
I'm looking forward to a great year with you all! I believe in developing strong relationships with my students and parents. My door is always open. Please feel free to contact me any time!
